With problems getting the goals up and ready it delayed our warmup and meant team talk was almost non existent. This maybe told asn1st couple of minutes we were a bit cagey and Southport Hesketh forced an early chance which Lewis was able to gather easily.
After approx 7 minutes and on his club debut Joel opened scoring. This calmed the lads down and we began passing the ball a bit slicker.
Joel broke clear to add his 2nd goal with a well struck shot into the corner.
We soon added a 3rd with Ewan scoring a header from Jack's well taken corner.
Hesketh pulled a goal back with Lewis caught out by the bounce of the ball.
Our lead was soon extended with Dominic scoring a header that hit the post before rolling along the line before eventually crossing it.

Half time 4- 1

Southport Hesketh had some late arrivals which gave them a boost starting the 2nd half they scored 2 goals in quick succession to narrow the lead to 1 goal.
Joel came off the bench and picking up the ball on the half way line, ran down the left wing beating the defenders before putting in the perfect cross to Reuban who set himself well and volleyed the ball 1st time with his left foot into the net making it look easy.
Hesketh still came at us and forced Lewis into a great save full length diving save.
Calum had a good chance late on as did Joel but both were unable to keep their shots down for the smaller than usual goals.

Final Score 5 - 3

Man of the Match was awarded to Joel who terrorised them throughout the game, scoring 2 goals and also got 2 assists. A great debut and a good sign for the season ahead.
